Vehicle collision claims life on Alpine Road
One person is dead after a two-car collision on Alpine Road in Richland County, Thursday.
According to Lance Cpl. David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol, the driver of a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe was killed. The driver of the Tahoe, Jones said, ran off the road and hit a guard rail. The vehicle then came back on the road, and hit a 2004 Ford van.
The driver of the Tahoe was ejected. The driver was taken to the hospital, and pronounced dead. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt according to Jones. The accident occurred around 7:05 p.m.
A woman, driving the van was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The name of the deceased has not been released by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
The accident remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
