Cromer’s is moving to North Main Street
Cromer’s, a landmark Columbia business, is moving.
Cromer’s opened in Columbia in 1935 and is known for its popcorn, peanuts, and gift boxes.
Cromer’s was founded by farmer Julian D. Cromer who sold roasted peanuts at his produce stand. He came up with the marketing slogan, “Guaranteed Worst in Town” and it stuck. For years Cromer’s was a well-known mainstay on Assembly Street.
For the last 10 years, Cromer’s has been on Huger Street. But its owners have announced it is moving to 3036 North Main Street.
The new location is the ideal location, said its owners, for manufacturing with kitchen space for making Cromer’s trademark popcorn and peanuts. Cromer’s retail space has a party atmosphere.
