Perhaps the highest honor for any high school basketball player – male or female – is to be named a McDonald’s All American. Each year, McDonald’s nominates the best players around the nation for inclusion on the final roster to play in the annual McDonald’s All American Games.

This year, judges have nominated nine players in South Carolina. And every single one is from the Midlands.

The local players nominated for the 2017 Games include:

Boys Team Nominees:
Jordan Davis, Dutch Fork High School
Jalek Felton, Gray Collegiate Academy
Christiaan Jones, Cardinal Newman School
Khalid Lackings, Manning High School
Jalen White, Manning High School
Michael Cooper, Manning High School

Girls Team Nominees:
Kamryn Lemon, Dreher High School
Jaelynn Murray, Dreher High School
Kameron Roach, Lower Richland High School

This year’s list of nominees includes 720 players from 45 states and the District of Columbia who have been selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals, and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee. A complete list of 2017 McDonald’s All American Games nominees is available at www.mcdaag.com.

McDonald’s will name the final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls who will be selected to play in the 2017 Games during the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Show on ESPNU, airing Sunday, Jan. 15 at 10:30 p.m.

“We are very pleased that there are nine South Carolina McDonald’s All American Games nominees this year,” stated Brad Valdes, a local McDonald’s owner/operator. “It’s an honor to recognize these players’ talents and hard work on and off the court at the national level.”

The 40th Annual Boys Game will tip-off on Wednesday, March 29 from Chicago’s United Center and will broadcast on ESPN. The 16th Annual Girls Game will precede the Boys Game and will broadcast live on ESPNU.
