Man killed by drunk driver
A Cayce man is dead after his vehicle was struck by a drunken driver in Lexington, according to police.
The victim was identified by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher as 75-year-old Roger Wayne Johnson, whom an autopsy showed died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Meantime, Lexington Police said they have and arrested and charged Nicole Marie Wilson of Lexington with felony DUI involving death. She received minor injuries in the wreck and treated at a local hospital and was later booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 11:12 p.m. Thursday at the 4200 block of Sunset Boulevard and Ginny lane in Lexington when Wilson ran a traffic light and struck Johnson’s vehicle.
Johnson was transported by Lexington County EMS from the scene to Lexington Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. A passenger in Johnson’s vehicle was transported to Palmetto Health Richland and was reported to be in stable condition, Fisher said.
Johnson was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, she added.
