Man accused of sexual misconduct with teen patient now accused of practicing as nurse without a license
A man arrested for sexually assaulting a teen patient while working at a West Columbia medical facility now is accused of practicing as a nurse without a license.
Kerston Kyle Turner, 28, of Linde Lane in Lugoff, now faces a charge of unlicensed practice as a nurse and licensed practical nurse.
Turner was arrested and charged with engaging a child younger than 18 in a sexual performance and first-degree assault and battery.
Lexington County Sheriff’s Department detectives say that on Jan. 14 Turner presented himself as a nurse to a 16-year-old boy and the boy’s mother while Turner provided medical services, which were not medically necessary, to the boy.
Turner is accused of performing “unlawful services on the 16-year-old boy that were outside the scope of Turner’s certification as a certified nursing assistant and constituted a sexual assault,” according to Sheriff James Metts.
Turner was licensed to work only as a certified nursing assistant, according to the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
Turner is no longer employed at the facility where the alleged crimes took place.
