USC wins Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive competition
The Gamecocks have secured bragging rights for another year after coming out on top in the 29th annual Carolina Clemson Blood Drive, which ended Friday.
The University of South Carolina had 4,124 donors give this week with Clemson bringing in 3,293 donors. That makes six consecutive wins for USC in the blood drive and a 15-14 lead in the series, which is held on both campuses each year leading up to the schools’ meeting in football.
The Gamecocks will be awarded the blood drive trophy at the Carolina-Clemson football game Nov. 30 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Donors still can show their Gamecock or Tiger pride and receive a commemorative Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive T-shirt by giving blood now through Dec. 1 at participating blood drives in the Columbia area and at the American Red Cross Donation Center at 2751 Bull St.
