USC notebook: Weekend preview


The No. 3 Gamecocks will face the No. 1 team in the land when they host the Georgia Bulldogs today at One Wood Farms in Blythewood.

The match will kick off the SEC season and will be held at 2 p.m.

The last time these two teams met was in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championships, where the Bulldogs won the meet 5-3.

However, the Gamecocks are 3-0 against Georgia when the Bulldogs have been ranked No. 1.

Women’s Soccer

No. 13 South Carolina will be looking to extend its four-game winning streak tonight when they host Alabama at Stone Stadium.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

South Carolina holds an 11-4 all-time record against the Crimson Tide and a 6-1 mark when they play in Columbia. The Gamecocks have also outscored Alabama 16-2 in their six straight home wins.


South Carolina will host two SEC foes this weekend, including their first ranked opponent of the season.

Carolina will face Georgia tonight at 7 and then will take on No. 13 Kentucky on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

The Gamecocks are 10-6 on the year and 2-2 in the conference. They are also 7-1 when they play in Columbia.
